Combat Cabin Fever
Get Out of the Office!
This winter has been insane. As it continues to drag on and on, your office may be suffering from cabin fever. Rather than chain everyone to their desks to stare discouragingly at their screen, it may be time to get up, get out, and do something different. Coordinated Business Systems is local, so we're familiar with the inevitable claustrophobia associated with long days and nights cooped up inside. Here are a few tips we use to combat our winter restlessness.

Volunteer: Getting involved with local schools, charities, or relief efforts is a great way to get people out of the office and feeling good. One of the reasons we get so irritable in the winter is because of all of the unexpended energy we have after a day of sitting at our desks, driving home, and staying inside. The best way to use this energy is to put it toward something valuable-reading to children, serving meals, filling care packages, or aiding flood relief are all great uses of your time.

Participate in Local Events: If you're getting sick of the same walls inside your office, take your work out to industry events and share your knowledge! There are events at all times of year, and it's a great way to network, learn, and get away from your desk.

Work Remotely: Although it may not get you outdoors, breaking your routine to work from home, the library, or a coffee shop can be just the right change of pace. If your company allows it, take time regularly to get out of the office, still get work done, but put yourself in a new environment. Because cabin fever is caused by claustrophobia, getting out of your everyday bubble can ease a restless mind.
