2014: Will Yours Be Productive?
The next time you turn the page in your calendar, it will be 2014. Are you ready? Many offices are preparing for the New Year by making resolutions or setting goals. One of our resolutions is to continue helping our clients increase office productivity. In honor of these efforts, we have five New Year's Resolutions that will have your office humming well into the New Year and beyond.
Join a Networking Group: Whether you're an entry-level employee or a CEO, you can benefit from joining a networking group. Exchanging ideas and making professional connections can benefit any person at any stage of their professional career. Connecting with colleagues can also provide insights about your own position that you wouldn't have otherwise recognized.
Say Thank You: This resolution is particularly important if you're a leader in the office. You'll be surprised how far a simple "thank you," will go. Everybody enjoys being recognized and appreciated, and the more positive feedback we receive, the more likely we are to repeat positive behaviors.
Clean out your Inbox: How many of the emails in your inbox are actually important? You'll be surprised by how few of them are even relevant. If you can't bring yourself to move them to the trash, you can at least put them in folders. The liberated feeling of having a completely empty inbox is not to be underestimated!
Go Paperless: Clutter is one of the most senseless causes of unproductive behavior. It may seem like a daunting task, but going paperless is not nearly as hard as it may seem. Plus, storing your documents electronically saves time and erases basic clerical processes.
Give Back to the Community: There is a lot to be said for selflessness. The feel-good sentiment that comes from helping someone in need is completely underrated. And, in fact, and entire office can benefit from serving the community as a group-go to a homeless shelter, serve at a soup kitchen, or help at a crisis nursery. Taking the time out of the workday to truly help those less fortunate can greatly increase office morale and productivity.
